To celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Legacy Traditional Schools’ founding, we’re featuring stories of teachers and administrators who have been with us since the early years. We had the chance to talk to Cindy Jones, a longtime teacher, and educator who recently accepted the role of Principal for Legacy’s Mesa campus!
For the last decade, Mrs. Jones has been an integral part of the Legacy community as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and now principal. Mrs. Jones has remained committed to ensuring that students and teachers achieve lasting success in the classroom and at home.

Growing up, Mrs. Jones always had a passion for education and was inspired by her friends and teachers to pursue teaching as a career. When asked what inspired her to pursue a career in education, Cindy replied “I wanted to learn as much as possible about teaching to make sure her daughters were set up for success in their schooling.”
In her free time, Mrs. Jones enjoys bonding with her daughters outside and exercising to relieve stress. She also loves reading and playing with her dog. When asked for her three favorite books, Cindy recommended Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, and Teach Like Your Hair’s on Fire by Rafe Esquith. As one might guess, she enjoys books about teaching and is always eager to learn about ways to better serve her students.
When asked what she enjoys most about Legacy, Cindy shared that “Legacy has always felt like a family who has your back. From our teachers and staff to students and their families, our school communities lift you up on those difficult days and celebrate your successes during times of triumph.” Since starting my career with Legacy, I’ve been fortunate to be a part of three outstanding schools in various roles, and each campus continues to be tremendously supportive of me, and the success of the entire district — that is something to be said,” she added.
Legacy is honored to have such passionate and dedicated teachers as Cindy, who has and will continue to shape the lives of our students!
