Dear Legacy Families,
Thank you for your patience as we prepare our plans for a safe return to school for the 2020-21 school year. Over the past several weeks, we have been working diligently to develop learning options and safety procedures that will meet the needs of our students, while also ensuring the health and wellbeing of our entire school community. Your feedback has been invaluable during this process.
For the 2020-21 school year, we are considering the following two learning options for students. To help us plan, we are asking families to select the option that best suits their circumstances.

Online Learning
Students return to school as a remote student, with 100% of learning completed online.

50/50 In-Person and Online Learning
Students will return to school with 50% of their time spent on campus, and 50% of their time spent learning online. Students who choose this option will be split into two groups: Group A and Group B. These groups will be at the campus on alternating schedules, with Group A on campus Monday, Wednesday and Friday one week, and Tuesday and Thursday the next week. Group B will have the opposite schedule. See image below, which shows a typical two-week schedule.
You can read more details about the learning options, as well as our health and safety guidelines, at this link.
Selecting Your Child’s Learning Option
You will receive an email later today with instructions for selecting your child’s learning mode through Infinite Campus. Please respond with your selection no later than July 12, 2020.
If a student wishes to change their selection, it may only be done at the end of a quarter/grading period. Additionally, there will be a weeklong grace period to change your selection at the beginning of the school year. Details on changing your selection will be provided at a later date.
Online Learning Details
- As required by state/local authorities, students and staff will be expected to wear face coverings while on campus when 6 ft. distancing is not possible. If the authorities lift this restriction, face coverings will then become recommended but optional.
- Students are expected to conduct a self-screening of body temperature and other COVID-19-related symptoms prior to arriving on campus.
- Students will wash their hands at least every 2 hours, before and after lunch, and before and after leaving the classroom.
- There will be a modified lunch schedule, with students eating in their classrooms some days and in the cafeteria other days.
- Some specials/electives will be modified to ensure the health and safety of students.
- Additional cleaning measures will be in place to sanitize high touch surfaces daily. Evening custodians will also sanitize the entire building each evening.
- Parents and visitors will not be permitted on campus. Students may only be picked up through the Driveline process, with the exception of late drop-offs and early pick-ups.
Online Learning Details
- Students will receive 100% of learning online through Schoology, our online learning platform.
- Students will receive full online instruction in math, phonograms, spelling, reading, writing, grammar, social studies and science.
- Specials/electives will be offered on a limited basis and may differ from campus to campus.
- Attendance will be tracked by monitoring students’ daily login to Schoology. Students will be marked absent if they do not log in.
- Students will receive a combination of recorded video instruction, online discussions, assignments, quizzes and tests each week.
- Live interaction with teachers will occur during tutoring sessions offered twice per week.
- Students will be assigned a new online teacher. Information on who your child’s online teacher will be, along with Schoology login information, will be shared prior to the start of school.
- Students who are in need of a loaner laptop to complete online learning will have the option of borrowing a device from your campus. Loaner laptops are only available on an as-needed basis, not for all students.
