Award-Winning Charter School Network to Expand into the Tar Heel State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Jan. 23, 2025 — Legacy Traditional Schools, an award-winning public charter school network, has received approval from the North Carolina Charter Schools Review Board to open a new K-8 campus in the greater Winston-Salem metropolitan area. Legacy’s first North Carolina campus is scheduled to open for the 2026-27 school year and promises to offer families an exceptional educational option, combining academic rigor with community-focused values.
The new campus is set to enroll up to 760 K-8 students in its first year, with a total capacity of 1,200. At full buildout, it features 45 classrooms, administrative offices, a gymnasium, athletic fields, a library, a piano lab, a covered outdoor artificial turf area, a commercial kitchen, and a cafeteria. The campus will occupy approximately 80,000 square feet across 12 acres. As with all Legacy schools, Winston-Salem will offer a tuition-free, rigorous, and well-rounded curriculum emphasizing core academic subjects, the arts, physical education, and a wide range of extracurricular activities and athletics.
