Award-winning public charter school network to open for the 2026-27 school year; Columbia site location announced ahead of Virtual Parent Info Night on Aug. 27.
SOUTH CAROLINA (July 31, 2024) – Legacy Traditional Schools, an award-winning public charter school network, recently announced its expansion into South Carolina with new campuses approved to offer K-8 educational opportunities to families in Charleston and Columbia.
Legacy Traditional Schools, operating in Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, has opened an interest list for South Carolina families in anticipation of new campuses scheduled for the 2026-27 school year. Initially planned for Fall 2025, Legacy’s governing board has deferred the Columbia and Charleston campus openings to ensure the future campus sites meet Legacy’s high standards for optimal facilities operations and access for future families.
The new campuses in South Carolina will reflect the scale and design of Legacy’s existing campuses in the southwestern states. Each campus will span approximately 90,000 square feet and feature roughly 50 classrooms, offices, a gym, athletic fields, a library, a piano lab, an indoor basketball court, artificial turf fields, a commercial kitchen, and a cafeteria.
Jennifer Turney, Superintendent of Legacy Traditional Schools – South Carolina, highlighted the network’s dedication to building strong community relationships. “For 17 years, Legacy has partnered with families, local stakeholders, and educational leaders to deliver top-tier K-8 education in community-focused environments. In July 2024, Legacy Traditional Schools shared the official site of its Columbia campus with future families. The campus is located at 9650 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC 29223, and is set to open for the 2026-27 school year.
